The Holidays in Marin

We can all agree that it's been quite a November! Finally, the election is behind us. The Fed has begun lowering the prime rate, and while we have not seen significant mortgage rate reductions, there's reason to expect that we will see interest rates go down throughout 2025. Sales are reflecting increased confidence, and Marin has a 22% increase in October/November single family homes sold over last year.

The best news....we're finally in the holiday season! It's that wonderful time of the year to connect with friends and family, and here's some of our favorite activities this month in Marin and Sonoma:

  1. Sausalito's lighted boat parade and fireworks show. December 14th from 6:00-9:00 PM. It's fun to watch from one of Sausalito's view restaurants, but for an evening to remember, join the multitude of festive boats on the iconic 80 foot schooner, Freda B. Tickets are $179, and she is located in the Sausalito Yacht Harbor, Slip 465. More information at  WinterfestSausalito.com
  2. McEvoy Ranch wreath making workshop in Petaluma.  December 6-8th at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Create your own personalized holiday masterpiece using fresh, forged  greenery from the McEvoy Ranch garden. $185/person.
  3. Mill Valley Winterfest on the town square. December 8th, from 2:00-5:00. Enjoy a celebration of community in this vibrant downtown....last year, over 1000 people attended.  Winterfest is a friends and family afternoon of good cheer, with live music from a number of excellent local bands, a kid centric train ride, and of course, a visit from Santa Claus.  Capped off with the annual Tree Lighting on the Plaza at 5:30.
  4. Cut your own Christmas tree at Larson's Christmas Tree Farm in Petaluma. Recommended by Marin Mommies. Larsen's is close to downtown Petaluma, and offers many species to harvest, along with pre-cut Noble and Douglas firs. Free coffee, candy canes, and hot cider.
  5. Fairfax Winter Market. December 15th, from 4:00-9:00. Fairfax is a festive town, and this gathering offers something for everyone. Warn beverages, delightful treats, dazzling lights, shopping specials, and a bike lighting contest. Located on the Bolinas-Fairfax Road at Elise Lane.
  6. The Nutcracker at the San Francisco Ballet. December 6th on. Pop across the bridge to take in the most performed ballet in the country. Performed at the War Memorial Opera House.  A fabulous, high demand event that can get booked up, so reserve tickets soon.
