Our Fairfax Top Five

We love all of Marin, but honestly, there's something special about Fairfax. Maybe it's the sun or the lack of chain stores, or the lingering 1960s vibes, this little town charms us every time.

In honor of our newest listing - 72 San Gabriel Drive - we’ve rounded up five of our local favorites.

Five Reasons We Love Fairfax

  1. From gorgeous seasonal produce and prepared foods to every kind of gluten-free, vegan alternative known to man. Good Earth is the all-organic, locally owned, anti-GMO grocery store of our dreams. In Fairfax - the original of their two locations - even the roof is cool. It's home to 852 solar panels (the store is run by 100% renewable energy) and a radiation monitor. Click here.

  2. Opened in 2016, Village Sake is a Japanese pub with a truly fantastic team - most notably executive chef Scott Whitman, who headed up Sausalito's Sushi Ran for fifteen years. The fare - mostly small plates - is truly fantastic, and expertly paired with sake and craft beer. Click here.

  3. Live music daily. Check out 19 Broadway, Peri's, and Iron Springs Pub and Brewery - or go to the farmer's market (Wednesdays, May-Sept), which will feature performances by local musicians each week.

  4. In the 1970s Fairfax, a lot probably happened. One of them being the birth of the modern-day mountain bike. You could honor history by slipping on some bell bottoms and tearing down Repack Road - or, alternatively, pay a visit to the Marin Museum of Bicycling. Entirely volunteer-created and run, the 3,000sqft space offers everything from lectures and event coverage to a library and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. Click here.

  5. Summers are legitimately warm in Fairfax, making a waterfall trek through a shaded forest all the more appealing. Fairfax is home to acres upon acres of open space, but Cascade Falls is our favorite solution for a quick, dreamy, wildflower-dotted dose of nature. If this little 1.2-mile jaunt sparks a need for more of the great outdoors, good news - West Marin is just a hop away.
